Specific Keywords
and Phrases - It is very important to get your keywords and phrases right.
Choose and optimize words and short phrases that you think your target market
would search for website service under. Don't be tempted to include words and
phrase with no relevance to your site - search engines won't increase your
rankings on that basis. The more accurate your keywords, the quicker and more
people will locate your site. Be careful that you don't repeat the same word
more than 5 times but if you do ensure that they form part of unique phrases.
Don't forget to include the plurals or your popular keywords and that if you
know that people commonly 'misspell' some of your keywords to also include
them.
Title Tags - Always include one to three of your most
important keywords or phrases into your title tags. However do not simply list
all of your keywords as the search engines will interpret this as spamming which
is bad. Some search engines will 'chop off' your title so remember to place your
most important phrases at the beginning of your tags and also to include unique
title tags on each of your web pages.
Alt Tagging Your Images -
Include 'alt' text on all of your images as search engines will recognize these
as keywords. Always remember that you are competing with millions of other sites
on the internet so the amount of work and thought you put into search engine
optimization will dividends in the long run.
