|   | | Once you download and activate the Google toolbar, you will notice a heading called
'PageRank'. Under the heading you see a green strip. This represents the
visible PageRank. Each time you visit a site look at the strip to get an idea of the
Google PageRank.
Obviously the longer the green strip, the higher the site's PageRank. Also, when
you place your cursor over the strip, a pop-up will give you the actual
numerical ranking.
However, it is important to note that there is a difference between visible
PageRank and 'real' PageRank. Here's the difference - Google updates real
PageRank frequently and visible PageRank very infrequently. This is why many
people are confused when the two PageRanks appear to conflict with each other.
You may have been wondering why after conducting extensive SEO, your visible
PageRanking remains unchanged. The reason is simply that Google hasn't got
around to updating it yet. The search engine has been known to update visible
PageRank as rarely as once in every three months!
